Steps a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec must follow to obtain a digital signature
prerequisite:
Be a member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec as an engineer. (If you are a already a holder of an administrative digital signature and would like to convert it to an engineer’s digital signature, please refer to the special procedure).
Step 1:
Please complete the form relevant to your situation:
- For a first-time subscription to the digital signature service or for a reissue of a digital signature that has been inactive for over 12 months, please complete and print the subscription form without signing it.
- For the reissue of a digital signature that has been inactive for less than 12 months or for the reissue of activation codes that have been cancelled for less than 12 months, please complete, print and sign the Digital Signature Reissue form.
Step 2:
Please do step 2 according to your situation:
- For a first-time subscription to the digital signature service or for a reissue of a digital signature that has been inactive for over 12 months, sign the form in the presence of an OIQ-authorized Identity Verification Agent (IVA). The IVA will send all documents to the OIQ.
- For a reissue a digital signature inactive for less than 12 months, mail the signed form along with all relevant documentation to the following address:

Step 3:
Once your identity has been confirmed by the OIQ, Notarius will send you the information on how to activate your digital signature.

special procedure
If you are the holder of an administrative digital signature and now also hold the title of engineer ("ingénieur"), you can request a digital signature conversion by first filling out the online form, printing it, then signing it. An authorized identity verification agent (IVA) must have confirmed your identity when your digital signature was first issued and you must be a member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) or hold a temporary permit issued by the OIQ.
